Bassinet or cot from day one?

Many parents purchase a bassinet believing that’s where their baby should sleep for the first few months.

But here’s a little P2B perspective…

If your baby’s cot fits safely in your room, P2B often recommends using the cot from day one.

Choosing the cot from the beginning can also make future transitions smoother. When it’s time for your baby to move into their own room, their sleep environment stays the same — the room changes, but the cot remains familiar.

And remember…
Your baby has spent months curled up in the womb. Sleeping flat on their back is completely new and takes time to adjust to. It’s not that they dislike the cot, bassinet, pram or tummy time — it’s just unfamiliar.

Just like parenthood feels new to you… sleep feels new to them too.
