Why do P2B “Awake Times” vary from what I have read on other forums?
“Why are your awake times different to what I see online?”
This is such a great question — and one I’m asked often.
It’s actually really interesting how varied awake-time recommendations can be. When you’re reading advice online, it’s always worth looking at the source. Forums are often filled with well-meaning parents sharing what worked for their own child.
Here’s the important part…
✨ Awake times should always be individual.
A “recommendation” is exactly that — a guide, not a rule.
The awake times I share come from over 20 years of clinical and practical experience working with families. They aren’t copied or pulled from a chart — they’re shaped by watching real babies and real families.
And honestly? Babies don’t read the rule book.
This week alone I’ve worked with:
• a 4-month-old happily on two sleeps a day
• a 12-month-old still genuinely needing three sleeps
Neither fits neatly into the “expected” awake windows — because they’re following their needs, not someone else’s template.
🌙 So when you look at awake times, use them as a guide only.
Watch your baby. Follow their cues. Adjust as they grow.
Let your little one lead the rhythm — not the internet
