Tummy Time
P2B encourages tummy time to begin as part of play from hospital discharge.
✨ I often ask parents… can your baby lie on their tummy in the uterus?
Of course not! Which means tummy time feels completely new — and sometimes uncomfortable — at first. The key is repetition and consistency. Just because they don’t love it straight away doesn’t mean we stop. You don’t become a runner by running once… you improve by practising regularly.
How to start:
• Begin slowly — a simple guide is 1 minute, 3 times a day for how many weeks of age they are
• Always use a flat, safe surface
• Get down at their level — talk, sing and interact
• Add toys, books or a non-breakable mirror for engagement
• Change the scenery — inside, outside or on different surfaces
Chest-to-chest tummy time is a beautiful place to begin and can help build confidence for both baby and parent. Think of it like a “knee push-up” — a great starting point — but gradually work toward tummy time on the floor as your little one grows stronger.
Keep it fun, keep it consistent… and watch their strength grow
