Worried about overheating or being cold overnight?

A hot topic right now — how to dress bub for sleep in this weather!

I’ve had so many questions lately about overheating, keeping little ones warm, and how to tell the difference. I touched on this briefly in stories, but wanted to give you something permanent you can save and come back to later — so go ahead and bookmark this

How to tell if your little one might be COLD:

▪️ Crying in the cot but settles quickly in your warm arms
▪️ Falls asleep being held but wakes shortly after transfer
▪️ Sleeping with bum up in the air
▪️ Arms tucked under their body when tummy sleeping
▪️ Early rising or regular wakes during the coldest hours (around 3–5am)
▪️ Moving around the cot or appearing unsettled
▪️ Often found in the corner of the cot

How to tell if your little one might be HOT:

▪️ Wriggles out from under blankets but stays calm and sleeps well
▪️ Waking early with signs such as:
▪️ Sweating
▪️ Red or flushed face
▪️ Heat rash noticeable on waking

✔️ Choose natural fibres like cotton, wool or bamboo for bedding and sleepwear — avoid synthetic materials where possible.

⚠️ If your little one is rolling, follow @rednoseaustralia safe sleep guidance: use a tog-rated sleeping bag and remove loose blankets from the sleep space.

Every baby is different, so always check your little one’s back or tummy to gauge warmth — not hands or feet
